If you are shopping for a VPS in Nepal, two names come up quickly: DataHub Nepal and AstraCloud. They are different kinds of company, and the right answer genuinely depends on what you are building.

The clearest comparison is at the top of DataHub's range. DataHub's Large plan (Rs 3,000) and AstraCloud's Cloud VPS 2 (Rs 2,400) have identical specifications — 2 cores, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe. That is Rs 600 a month, or Rs 7,200 a year, for the same machine.
At the entry level the gap is about capacity rather than price. For Rs 200 more than DataHub's Small, AstraCloud's Cloud VPS 1 gives you twice the RAM and two and a half times the disk. That difference matters more than it sounds: 1 GB of RAM is genuinely tight for a WordPress site with a database on the same box, and 10 GB fills up faster than people expect once you have uploads and backups.
Where the servers actually are
This is the part worth understanding properly, because it is the single biggest thing affecting how fast your site feels to a visitor in Kathmandu.
Every request from a browser makes several round trips before a page appears — DNS, TCP handshake, TLS handshake, then the request itself. Each one is limited by the speed of light and the route the traffic takes. A server in Singapore is typically 60–90 ms away from a Nepali visitor. One in Europe or the US is 150–300 ms. A server in Nepal is often 5–20 ms.
Multiply that by four or five round trips and you get a real, human-noticeable difference in how quickly a page starts painting — before any optimisation you do in WordPress makes any difference at all.
AstraCloud runs on infrastructure located in Nepal. Traffic from a Nepali visitor to an AstraCloud site does not need to leave the country and come back.
DataHub is a Nepali company operating data centre and cloud services domestically, though their public homepage does not state a server location for the VPS plans specifically. If in-country hosting matters to you, ask them directly and get it in writing — that is fair advice regardless of who you buy from.

What DataHub is genuinely good at
An honest comparison has to include this, and if a provider's own blog will not tell you where a competitor is stronger, treat the whole page as marketing.
- Established data centre operation. DataHub is a data centre business first. If you need colocation, disaster recovery, or an enterprise contract with formal SLAs, that is their core competency and it is not something a young provider can claim.
- DDoS protection is listed on every VPS plan. If you run something that attracts attacks — a news site, a gaming service, anything political — that is a real line item.
- Track record. They have been operating longer. For some organisations, particularly government-adjacent or financial ones, that history is the deciding factor and should be.

- Who visits your site? If the answer is "mostly people in Nepal", in-country hosting is the single highest-impact decision you will make. If your audience is global, it matters far less and a CDN matters more.
- How much RAM do you actually need? A small WordPress site is fine on 2 GB. WordPress with WooCommerce, or anything running Node.js alongside a database, wants 4 GB. Below 2 GB you will spend your time fighting the server instead of building.
- Do you need DDoS protection? Be honest. Most small business sites and portfolios do not. Some sites absolutely do, and for those it should outrank price.
- Who answers when it breaks at 11pm? Ask both providers a technical question before you buy and time the reply. That tells you more than any feature list.
- Can you leave? Ask how you get your data out. A provider confident in its service will answer immediately.
